Who we are

The responsible party for your personal information is Basalt Plant Hire. Basalt Plant Hire is a trading name of LY CONSULTING. You can reach us about privacy at info@basaltplanthire.co.za.

What we collect

• What you send us on WhatsApp or email: your name, phone number, email address, company name, the site address or town, photos of the site, the job, the dates and the machines you need.
• Hire records: quotes, bookings, hours worked, payments and invoices.
• Website counts: we count page visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which sets no cookies and does not identify you, and we count taps on WhatsApp buttons per page (only the page and the week are stored).

Why we use it

• To price your hire, confirm it in writing and deliver the machine and operator.
• To invoice, keep accounting and tax records, and meet our legal duties.
• To reply to your messages and follow up on a quote you asked for.

We don't sell or rent your information, and we don't send marketing you didn't ask for.

Who sees it

Only the people who need it to deliver your hire: our team, the operator or driver going to your site (who needs the address and a site contact), and service providers such as our accountants and the messaging and email services we use. Each is bound to keep it confidential.

How long we keep it

• Enquiries that don't become a hire: up to 12 months, then deleted.
• Hire, invoice and payment records: for as long as tax and company law require (generally five years), then deleted.

How we protect it

Records are kept in password-protected business accounts, shared only as above, and deleted when no longer needed.

Your rights

Under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) you may ask what information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, and object to how we use it. Email info@basaltplanthire.co.za and we'll respond. If you're not satisfied, you can complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa).
